Deli sandwiches, organic bagels baked that morning, good coffee and a cocktail list if you'd rather. Order at the counter. The quickest real meal in the village, and the one that leaves you the most time to wander the square afterwards.

The nicest room in the village, and the only one of these actually on the square. Seasonal plates, a proper bar, and a kitchen that takes itself seriously without being precious about it. The pick if you want lunch to feel like part of the day out rather than a pit stop.

Exactly what it says on the sign. Enchiladas, fajitas, a margarita if you've paced yourself. Open eleven to ten every single day, so it's the one that never lets a group down — and nobody has ever had to be talked into Tex-Mex.

Wimberley's original tasting room, pouring since 2008. A flight of small-batch Texas wines at an 1894 bar, and you keep the glass. No reservation, no fuss — they pour continuously all day, which is exactly what you want on a ninety-minute break.

Wine & distillery

Twenty-plus wines, hand-crafted spirits distilled on the brand, a full cocktail bar and a tapas menu. The answer for anyone who's had enough wine by lunchtime — a short spirits flight or a proper cocktail resets the palate better than another glass of red.
