The Tours & What's Included

What's included in the price?

Your per-person price bundles both your transportation and every tasting fee at your reserved stops — there's nothing extra to pay at the winery. We also include water, non-alcoholic drinks, and light snacks on board, a cooler to keep any bottles you buy, and group photos along the way, all free. The only things you'll spend on are lunch and any wine you take home.

What are the four tour "flavors"?

Every region offers the same four ways to taste: Classic (three wineries, our signature day), Wine + Village (two wineries plus a village or Main Street lunch stop — you buy your own lunch), Mix Your Own (three stops you choose — any mix of winery, brewery, and distillery), and Fully Custom (the driver and 13-seat shuttle by the hour, design-your-own day, BYOB). You pick your flavor at checkout.

How big can our group be?

Up to 13 guests — that's the full shuttle. We host everything from a couple's day out to bachelorette parties, birthdays, and work outings. There's a two-guest minimum to run a tour.

Is the tour private?

Almost always, yes — the shuttle is usually yours alone. On the rare occasion two parties have booked the same date and the same itinerary, we may combine them, and we'll tell you before your tour. If you'd rather not share, just say so and we'll work it out. See our Terms for the exact wording.

Booking, Pricing & Payment

What if the date we want isn't available?

Ask us anyway. An unavailable date usually means another group already has the shuttle that day — but there's often room to join them. Call or text 830-355-VINO (8466) and we'll tell you exactly where we're headed, so you can decide whether it suits your group.

How does pricing work?

Prices are per person and tiered by the size of your group — the bigger the party, the lower the per-person rate — with all your tastings included. Tips are never added. Exact rates are on each tour page — see Wimberley / Driftwood, Johnson City, or Fredericksburg for the current tiers.

Do I pay in full when I book?

Your choice at checkout: pay in full, or hold your date with a $500 reservation fee and pay the balance later — we charge the remaining balance automatically 14 days before your tour. Bookings that total less than $500 are simply paid in full at booking. Everything runs through our secure FareHarbor checkout.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancel 14 or more days ahead for a full refund. Between 72 hours and 14 days, we'll move you to another date or issue a tour credit. Within 72 hours, or for a no-show, we're unable to refund. Full details are in our Terms below.

Can we reschedule?

Yes — we'll reschedule your tour once at no charge with at least 72 hours' notice, subject to availability. Just call or email us.

What if the weather's bad?

Our tours run rain or shine — tasting rooms are indoors, and the Hill Country is beautiful in any weather. In the rare event of severe or unsafe conditions, we may postpone; if we cancel, you'll choose a free reschedule or a full refund.

Pickup, Timing & Where We Go

Where do you pick us up?

Door-to-door from your home, hotel, or Airbnb. It's free across our home zone — Gruene, New Braunfels, Wimberley, Canyon Lake, and San Marcos. Into the Austin–San Antonio corridor, pickup is free for private groups of 6 or more, or a $50 intro rate for smaller groups. Farther afield, just ask and we'll quote it. Pickup is charged per booking, not per person.

Which regions can we tour?

Three: Wimberley & Driftwood (closest to Austin), Johnson City (a little quieter, off the beaten path), and Fredericksburg (the marquee day out on the 290 Wine Road). Each has its own page with wineries and pricing.

How long is the day, and what time do we start?

Wimberley/Driftwood and Johnson City run about 5.5 hours (roughly 10:30 AM–4:00 PM); Fredericksburg is a fuller day at about 7 hours (roughly 10:00 AM–5:00 PM) for the longer drive. Doorstep pickups shift your start and return times by the drive to and from your address — your confirmed itinerary always shows exact times.

Food, Drink & Extras

Is lunch or food included?

Water, soft drinks, and light snacks are included on board. Lunch isn't included — you'll have time to grab a bite at the wineries, and the Wine + Village flavor builds in a village or Main Street lunch stop (you buy your own). Want food on board? Add breakfast tacos ($12/person) or a personal charcuterie board ($15/person) — pre-order at least 48 hours ahead so we get quantities right.

Can we bring our own drinks or snacks?

You're welcome to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. Outside alcohol isn't permitted on our tastings-included tours — but our Fully Custom / transport-only bookings are BYOB, so if you want to bring your own, that's the option to book.

Do we tip? Is gratuity included?

Tips are excluded from every price and left off checkout entirely — gratuity is always appreciated. If you'd like to tip your host at the end of the day, you're welcome to.

Do you have to be 21 to come along?

You must be 21 or older with a valid government-issued ID to taste or consume alcohol on our tours. See our Terms for the full conduct and alcohol policy.

Booking & Payment

All tours are booked through our secure FareHarbor checkout. At checkout you may pay in full, or hold your date with a $500 reservation fee and pay the balance later. Any remaining balance is charged automatically 14 days before your tour to the card on file. Bookings that total less than $500 are paid in full at the time of booking.

Minimum to Run

Our tours require a minimum of 2 guests to run.

Cancellations & Refunds

Plans change — here's how we handle it:

  • 14 or more days before your tour: cancel for a full refund.
  • 72 hours to 14 days before: we'll gladly move you to another date or issue a tour credit; cash refunds aren't available in this window.
  • Within 72 hours, or a no-show: no refund. By this point we've reserved your wineries, ordered any food, and held the shuttle for your group.

Refunds are returned to your original payment method and may take a few business days to appear. A $500 reservation fee is non-refundable once inside the 14-day window.

Rescheduling

Need a different date? We'll reschedule your tour once at no charge with at least 72 hours' notice, subject to availability. Reschedule requests made inside 72 hours are treated under the cancellation policy above.

Weather

Our tours run rain or shine — tasting rooms are indoors and the Hill Country is lovely in any weather. In the rare case of severe or unsafe conditions, we may cancel or postpone at our discretion; if we do, you'll choose a free reschedule or a full refund.

Private & Combined Tours

On most dates the shuttle is yours alone. Occasionally two parties book the same date and the same itinerary, and we may run them together.

"Tours may be combined with another party booked on the same date and itinerary. We will notify you in advance if this applies to your booking."

We'll always tell you before your tour if this affects your booking. If you'd prefer not to share the shuttle, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Alcohol, Age & Conduct

You must be 21 or older, with a valid government-issued photo ID, to consume alcohol on our tours. We tour responsibly: we reserve the right to refuse or discontinue alcohol service, or to end a tour early without refund, for any guest who is intoxicated, unsafe, or disruptive to the group, our driver, or our winery partners.

Please treat the shuttle and every venue with care — guests are responsible for any damage caused during the tour. A $300 cleaning fee applies for any mess requiring extra cleaning (for example, sickness in the vehicle). Outside alcohol is not permitted on tastings-included tours; our Fully Custom / transport-only bookings are BYOB.

Food Add-Ons

Breakfast tacos and charcuterie boards are pre-order only, at least 48 hours before your tour, so we can prepare the right quantities. Add-ons requested inside 48 hours can't be guaranteed.

Privacy

We collect only what we need to book and run your tour, process payments securely through FareHarbor, and never sell your personal information. For the full details — what we collect, how we use it, and your choices — see our Privacy Policy.

These terms are provided for guest reference and may be updated from time to time; the version in effect when you book applies to your tour. Questions before you book? Call 830-355-VINO (8466) or email WindingRoadWineTours@gmail.com.
